DE / Die Installation «Naughty Lil Thomas» verhandelt Sexualität und Erotik, sexuelle Reproduktion und libidinöse Affektion. Die sinnliche Erscheinung der Objekte erinnert an Wesen aus den Tiefen der Ozeane und den Weiten des Alls – sie umfassen die Ästhetik des unbekannten Bekannten. Die Vergegenständlichung des Tiefen und Weiten umfasst nicht zuletzt Spekulationen über die sexuelle Reproduktion als utopische Befreiung oder dystopische Gouvernementalität.

Die Rezipierenden sind dazu eingeladen, die Installation zu berühren. Sie werden Teil der Objekte – Teil des Schaltkreises. Durch die Berührung der leitfähigen Silberkugeln schliessen sie die offene Schaltung. Die Verbindung der Installation mit den Rezipierenden hybridisiert das Verhältnis von Subjekt und Objekt. Die Erotik liegt in der Unmittelbarkeit und öffnet das Feld der Spekulation.

«Naughty Lil Thomas» wurde im Kontext der Gruppenausstellung “Peace or Never” der Bachelor und Masterstudierenden des Instituts Art Gender Nature, der Hochschule für Gestaltung und Kunst Basel FHNW im Kunsthaus Baselland gezeigt.

ENG / The installation «Naughty Lil Thomas» negotiates sexuality and eroticism, sexual reproduction and libidinal affect. The sensual appearance of the objects is reminiscent of creatures from the depths of the oceans and space. The objectification of depth and vastness includes not least, speculations about sexual reproduction as utopian liberation or dystopian governmentality.

The recipients are invited to touch the installation. They become part of the objects - part of the circuit. By touching the conductive silver spheres, they close the open circuit. The connection between the installation and the recipients hybridizes the relationship between subject and object. The eroticism lies in the immediacy and opens up the field of speculation.

«Naughty Lil Thomas» was shown in the context of the group exhibition "Peace or Never" by Bachelor and Master students of the Institute Art Gender Nature, Academy of Art and Design Basel FHNW at Kunsthaus Baselland.
